I am planning another trip to Ireland/UK in 2026 and this time I would like to hire a private driver. I don't want a "Chauffer or Tour Guide" - just looking for an individual who can drive us from our Airbnb to some of the sights (and home again) without having to rent a car. We were in Ireland (Dublin & Galway) in October 2024 and we rented a car. My son drove us from Dublin to Galway and back again. We really enjoyed taking in the sights. It was great, but all that driving was a bit stressful and the rental car was NOT cheap. We would only need a driver for a few days out of our trip, and I have heard there are local folks who do this. I think it would be worthwhile to save on time, parking and the stress!
Car rental CAN be a it pricey in Ireland -- but a Private Drver isn't necessarily cheap, either.
That said, much would depend on what locations you are "basing" at and what sites you are planning to visit.
Numerous locations offer "Hackney" services, where you can pre-book trips at a fixed rate, but to be more specific, we would need to know more details.
